991.0. "Age old downloading problems..." by MDKCSW::DAVIS (That's not a BUG, it's a FEATURE!) Sun Dec 20 1987 16:40

Hello all! Sorry to ask this, but here goes... I'm a new Amiga 2000 owner and
am trying to download some of the .ARC files like BERSERK, for example. I'm
using Dave's VT100 with KERMIT-32. I seem to be able to get the file here ok,
but when I unarc and run it, I get "file is not an object module."

Ok, I know I'm doing something stupid, so what gives??

991.1Need showanim for BerserkTUBORG::J_PARSONSBruno...Is that you?Sun Dec 20 1987 16:5112
    Well, if your problems are specifically with berserk, then you may
    not have a problem. Berserk is an animation which is really just
    an input file to the showanim program (which should be on the net
    somewhere). If you find showanim, then to view berserk you would
    type
    		showanim -c berserk

    (assuming that showanim and berserk are both located on the current
    default device)

    Jack
    (who ran into the exact same thing when he first downloaded berserk)

I think shoanim was in the berserk.arc set.

This one really drove me berserk!

    Showanim was *not* in the berserk.arc I downloaded. That's why it
    took me so long to get it working...had to search back through this
    file for the first description of the demo that was posted. I had
    showanim from another animation demo.

My thanks to all! I downloaded showanim.arc and everything's great! Thanks
also to those of you who have the disk space to upload these amiga files.

			Looking forward to many hours on my new toy,
