990.0. "Can printer use Digiview adapter?" by MEMORY::BERKSON (What's that in the road - a head?) Sat Dec 19 1987 18:16

Can the Digiview 1000->2000 adapter be used to adapt my printer
to the new parallel port or do I have to rewire the printer cable.
(Is there something in here about what wires would have to be
    changed?).

990.1DigiView adapter pinoutsDIXIE1::PERETBruce PeretThu Dec 31 1987 16:5525
DigiView plugs directly into the A1000, and needs an adapter for
the 500/2000 to make it look like a 1000. I suppose you could just
plug it in the other way around to make a 1000 look like a 500/2000.
I don't have the adapter myself, the store was out of them, so I
improvised my own adapter using the parallel port pinouts from the
1000 and 500 manuals. Turns out they moved three pins (with an end
result of reversing +5V and GND), and changed the sex on the connecter
    (my 500 has female).

Here is the pinout I used to make up my own adapter, which works fine
with DigiView (if you like to solder):

Amiga 500/2000 pin DigiView (A1000) pin

    1 thru 13 1 thru 13	(the same thing)
    14 23 (+5V)
    15 24 (No connection)
    16 25 (RESET)
    17 thru 25 14 thru 22	(Signal GNDs)

You should be able to plug the DigiView end of the adapter into
your A1000, and have a A2000 compatible pinout, which should work
with your stock printer cable. Hope this helps.
