I'm trying to connect to Amigas with a NULL modem cable so we
can play FIREPOWER and also Flight Simulator together. We build
the cable ourselves using the minimal number of wires ( 1-8 & 20).
We connected send to recieve and receive to send. It still doesn't
work. I don't know much about it, but I suspect I need to get DTR
high for things to start working (whatever that means). Is this
correct? And if so, how can it be done?

| 941.2 | FirePower runs faster, but has problems | CURE::WISNER | Paul Wisner, AI Demonstrations | Mon Dec 07 1987 17:22 | 13 |
Thanks John, that worked. We had fun this weekend playing FirePower
on two Amigas located in different rooms of the house. The screen
is divided into two sections, one for typing messages to each other,
and the other for playing. The performance is much faster than
a two player game on just on Amiga. The game got out of synch
once. On one Amiga I was firing shells into my trapped opponent, and on
the other Amiga, he was driving around the woods blowing up trees!
I think that could have happened because we had two people at each
Amiga, one playing and the other typing messages. All that typing
could have interfered with the synchronization.
Haven't tried Flight Simulator yet.

When you try Flight Simulator, don't forget to transmit your airplane shape to the remote node. You have to do this explicitly in one of their menus, it isn't automatic. | |||||
