878.0. "Fat Agnes for the A1000?" by LEDS::ACCIARDI () Fri Nov 06 1987 11:57
I spoke with a guy who went to AmiExpo last month and met Jay Miner
and Dale Luck. The subject of new graphics chips came up. CBM
definately has 1 meg graphics chips for the A500 and A2000. How
or when they'll be released is not clear.
The interesting thing is that Jay and Dale both thought it would
be relatively painless to install a small daughterboard within the
A1000 to accept the new chip.
Being a total hardware klutz, I have no opinion on this, but I thought
it was encouraging that the two top Amiga hardware gurus thought
it would be possible to upgrade the A1000.
I offer this rumor as fodder to those of us who would like to upgrade
to an A2000, but can't think of any reasons other than the possibility
of extra chip ram in the future. This may be an excuse to hang
on to your A1000.
