812.0. "Converting pictures with IFF_to_SIX.EXE" by VENERE::ZABOT (Marco Zabot-Adv.Tech.mgr-Turin ACT) Thu Oct 15 1987 13:19

    To Eric Osman and who else may answer.

    I've typed you're file ERIC.SIX and tried to do the same.
    My procedure has been:
     - take picture using DIGIVIEW 1.2 , set to B/W FULL.
     - saved as IFF
     - kermit'd the file to VAX
     - runned with IFF_to_SIX.EXE
     - typed it: garbage.

    Any suggestion ? What has been your procedure?

    Hi,

    I work with Eric, and I know he doesn't own an Amiga or read this
    notesfile. So, I will answer in his place.

    One of the folks who works here has a digitizer and has taken our
    pictures. His program will convert the image to a sixels file for
    various output devices. The persons name with the digitizer is
    Bjrn Engberg (VIDEO::ENGBERG), but I don't know if he wrote the
    program or not. I don't work with Bjrn.

    	One suggestion to convert IFF to B/W sixel is to use the LA50
    print driver and a PD program that redirects the printer to a file.
    I can't remember the name of the program but it's on one of my
    FF disks.

    PS. I look for the program tonight.

I took Eric's picture using Bjrn's hardware-modified VT240 and his host
software. There are only about 2-3 working models of this VT240 camera
attachment, so don't count on using this method for getting your
picture on line.

A rather good picture of myself with my spouse can be found in:

    CAMPER::DUA1:[LOMICKAJ.UTILITIES]CRICKET.SIX_HARDCOPY (For LN03 or LA50)
or
    CAMPER::DUA1:[LOMICKAJ.UTILITIES]CRICKET.SIX_VIDEO (For VT240, but NOT VSII)

    If anyone wants their picture on-line, send me a snap and I will
    digitize as a full-color HAM image with DigiView.

    Use CSIX.EXE .... copy your .IFF (no HAM mode pix) to your VAX.
    Then run CSIX -pVT340 -l100 -t5 filename.IFF filename.SIX
    To display it on your VT340 type TYPE filename.SIX

    If you are looking for CSIX.EXE (which does a *great* job translating
    IFF format pictures to SIXEL format), see notes 1589 and 2323.

    The version 1.3 ARC, executable and doc files can also be found at:
