| just in time for the Atarifest at the Centrum on Oct 10-11. Atari
says it will have some hardware announcement there last i heard.
Did CBM give any reason for the one week delay?

| Has anyone seen the A500 ad yet? I don't watch much TV, but it
has been seen by one guy in my department, and he thought it was
pretty good. This person is considering buying one.
Also, I hear that all dealers have been given 10 promotional videotapes
to lend to prospective buyers. Seems like a great idea.
AmigaWorld has a full page ad for the A2000. It is the first ad
that stresses the Amiga as being the only available 'personal business
computer' with a true multitasking OS. They also heavily use the
phrases 'personal video production workstation' and 'color desktop
publishing'.

| Yes, it was a pretty good ad ... of course they had Defender of
the Crown running on the closest screen. They did mention multitasking,
but I don't believe they really demonstrated that aspecxt of it.

| The only A2000 ad I've seen here (in Germany) by C-A themselves
has a picture of the machine and the big heading says
" Amiga 2000 - THE WHOLE WORLD OF MS-DOS " !!!!!!
Yeecchh!

I just saw the my first Amiga TV AD. I think it was channel 38
(Boston Area). I just caught the tail end of it, but I think it
looked pretty good. All I saw were shots of the Amiga with various
graphics displays and the 800 number at the end. Looks like Commodore
is finally going to start marketing the Amiga again! (By "again"
I'm referring to the $1295 "Maserati" push of about a year and a
half ago.)

| I saw the same one on channel 5 (Boston) the other night during the
11pm news. (I think it was Tuesday.) I think it was also on the next
nite, but it wasn't on last nite.

| And now they have a new logo for the Amiga.
I wonder how much money they wasted on coming up with it, and why
they bothered. I was just getting used to the double check.

739.9 | The lack of ads for the 1000 | TLE::RMEYERS | Randy Meyers | Mon Oct 12 1987 23:51 | 7 |
| I just got back from attending the three day AmiExpo in New York.
Jay Miner (the father of the Amiga) explained one of the reasons why
Commodore didn't advertise the Amiga 1000 for a year. The Amiga 2000
and 500 are about a year late. Commodore expected that they would be
able to introduce the 2000 and 500 last fall. They had canceled the
ad campaign for the 1000 in preparation for starting up the campaign
for the newer machines.
