| The Sony 1311 was on sale at Lechmere LAST week for $399.
Might be able to find it mailorder for $425.

| Aren't the 1080's packaged with the A500's? You may have a hard
time getting the dealer to sell you an A500 alone. When I got my
A1000 without monitor, the price difference was only about $200.

| No, the 1080 is not bundled with the A500, fortunately. That was
a nasty rumor that I helped spread a while back.
I highly recommend the Sony CPD-1290 monitor. It is an RGB only (no
composite input or tuner), but it produces a much sharper image than
the Sony KV1311. I should know, since I have owned both models. Part
of the extra clarity comes from the 12" display vs the 13" display.
The 12" actually has a finer dot pitch than the 13" model, something
like .26 mm vs .31 mm. Personally, I prefer the additional display
sharpness over a slightly larger screen.
I got my CPD-1290 from the Software Shop for $500. The KV-1311
is now on duty in the den, where I banish my wife to watch Dynasty
reruns.

717.4 | what 2080? | SPHINX::DAVIS | | Wed Sep 23 1987 12:35 | 8 |

It seems like its been a long time since we've heard anything about
the 2080 long persistence monitor. Anyone heard anything? Also, a few
of the people mentioned that they had 2002's instead of 1080's. Is there
any functional or quality difference? Why the new number?

717.5 | Help, it's on the blink. | LEDS::PIM | Moved .... but not forgotten | Tue Oct 06 1987 18:27 | 14 |
| Hi there, I'm a new Amiga owner (as of last week). This may not
be the appropiate place to discuss this, but.....
My colour monitor (2002) seems to have a problem on start-up.
The whole screen goes bright pink where I switch it on, the Amiga
itself is working perfectly: as the screen is warming up the "insert
disk" icon is visable. But then the screen intensity increases so
that everything is obliterated. The birghtness and contrast knobs
have no effect. The problem does not happen everytime and it seems
to "reset" itself only when completely disconnected from everything,
( ie. power and RGB ).
Has anybody had a similar problem ?

717.6 | Multisync exeperience? | MEMORY::BERKSON | What's that in the road - a head? | Fri Oct 30 1987 16:33 | 5 |
| Could anyone venture an opinion on the various multi-sync monitors
available. I'm thinking of upgrading the 1080 and want to be able
to take advantage of an A2000 scan converter when it becomes available.

| re: .6
you might want to ask that question in the NAC::IBMPC notesfile.
The PS/2 systems use analog RGB monitors - some multisync monitors
can do both TTL and analog RGB, others can't. According to the
ads in Byte, it looks like the multisync manufacturers are coming
out with new models. That way they can sell the same monitor to
the current crop of pc clones, PS/2 and its clones, and MAC IIs.

717.8 | NEC MultiSync been tried | 16BITS::KRUGER | | Tue Nov 03 1987 18:05 | 10 |
| A friend of mine has tried the NEC MultiSync and could get it to
sync on interlace mode -- although it came close. He called tech
support, and got someone who didn't know much. He said "it's easier
to attach a time machine to the input of the multisync than to get
it working with interlace." Which is nonsense, because it was working,
but was just enough to start the picture scolling vertically. It
"almost" makes it. The Sony equivalent of MultiSync supposedly works.
Obviously, a scan doubler would eliminate this problem.

717.9 | Sony Multiscan, anyone? | WHYVAX::KRUGER | | Wed Mar 09 1988 15:07 | 14 |
| I just went to Lechmere the other night and saw a Sony Multiscan
(don't remember the number).
Beautiful! I particularly like the way the Trinitron dot layout
looks to the eye.
The question is, does it have some kind of circuitry to buffer the
signal? The other monitors were all blinking every time the fece
clone that was driving them scrolled (you know how bad those clones
look on scrolling text!) I couldn't tell whether it was the monitor,
though, or just a different computer hooked to the monitor. Does
anyone have a multiscan? If so, how is it with interlace?
