Does anyone have a script file for the Wecker VT100 (or Smokey VT200) emulator which autodials a Scholar modem and checks for failures? I have just switched to a Scholar, and haven't yet got autodialing set up via script. (It was enough of a problem to get it to work at all, but that is a story everyone has heard.) Because it can get a number of different kinds of errors it is harder to test for them using just WAIT and ON. With the DF03 there were only two common responses, which made this testing easier. Paul

Paul, The script I use for my Scholar (which I just received a few weeks ago), simply uses ON to wait for the string "ATTACHED". The modem is sophisticated enough to redial and you can program it to loop through a list of numbers. One thing I might like to add though is an ON "SPEED" command to reset the terminal baud if the modem falls back. So I guess I'd be interested too if someone has an extensive script for the Scholar. - steve mcafee |
