598.0. "Amazing Video Issue" by NAC::PLOUFF () Fri Jul 17 1987 17:06
On and off in this notesfile there have been discussions about video
applications for Amiga. Now there's help for both wishlists and
problems. _Amazing_Computing_, vol. 2, no. 7 (the "July" issue) is
full of video articles.
There's a preview of the Very Vivid Mandala video sequencer, which
controls MIDI electronic instruments from digitized video inputs. One
story talks about the "long story behind the delays of [the] Live!"
video digitizer. Another goes into how standard is the IFF standard.
Reviews include Deluxe Video 1.2, the Pro Video CG1 character
generator, Digi-View 2.0, Prism HAM Editor, and the Easyl drawing
tablet.
Some people have had trouble recording the Amiga's composite video
output. It turns out that the A1000 has design errors making both
video levels and color balance wrong. The fixes, according to Oran
Sands, each involve changing one resistor. But, you need TV test
equipment (oscilliscope and vectorscope) to check the results. In
another article, Sands suggests ways of improving the look of composite
images. For instance, avoid one-pixel-wide lines.
(Just more proof about which magazine has the usable information...)
