Are you willing to go mail-order? Pick up a compute of Compute
and there is a mail order house (CMO I believe is the name) who
lists an a1000 512k and monitor for 1199 I do believe...Also how
long are willing to wait for a machine? If/when the a2000 comes
out, and since dealers are forced to accept a1000 as trades and
then sell the a1000's themselves you might be able to pick up a
better deal on a used a1000.

to ansewer your question. . . YES you can do better than that if
you go mail order. look in amazing computing for dealerships that
have systems for sale. ive seen systems like amiga cpu/amiga monitor
/extra 256k pcb(for full 512k of memory)/and external 3 1/2" drive
all for around $1000.00

| 578.3 | It pays to shop around | NAC::PLOUFF | Tue Jun 30 1987 11:06 | 15 | |
Here are some prices from around the beginning of June. The companies
are advertisers in _Amiga_World_ and _Amazing_Computing_, with some
also seen in _Computer_Shopper_. Prices are for an A1000 with monitor
and memory upgrade to 512K, and for an external drive and Sidecar.
Company A1000/512K Ext. Drive Sidecar
------- ---------- ---------- -------
Go Amigo 1099 225 849
CMO 1159 200 789
Starflite 1369 incl drive 825
Computer Best 995 225 820
Consumer Discount Network, a shop-by-cable outfit, still has the
A1000 for $999. Most mail order places ask you to call for a price,
so these prices may be obsolete by now.
