486.1 | AUX problem | RSTS32::HUNT | Wherever you go, there you are! | Thu May 07 1987 08:56 | 12 |
| Hello,
I downloaded AUX-Handler, docs and entered the items you list
in MOUNTLIST. I then did a MOUNT AUX: which worked fine.
I entered NEWCLI AUX:, the disk whirred awhile, then gave the error:
Cannot open output window
NEWCLI failed
What did I do wrong? I have 512k Amiga, WB V1.2.

486.2 | Forgot to mention. | CGOU01::DREW | Steve Drew | Thu May 07 1987 13:06 | 9 |
| In the DOC file I forgot to mention one step:
2. Copy the Aux-Handler to the l: directory
If you did do this. Since you may of noticed that the mountlist
specifies the file as l:aux-handler then the uploaded binary is
probably bad. I'll check my copy just to make sure.
/Steve.

486.3 | Uploaded a new binary | CGOU01::DREW | Steve Drew | Fri May 08 1987 12:02 | 5 |
| The binary driver was bad. I uploaded a new .uue and binary
version.
I'll make the sources available too.

486.4 | A few AUX: type questions... | GUIDUK::ROY | A clam by any other name | Tue Apr 05 1988 01:56 | 31 |
|
I finally got a VT220 at home and had to fire up AUX: asap.
But now I have a few questions:
Is there a way to get Aux-handler to recognize the VT200 "<X|" key
as a BS/DEL instead of just DEL, or is something I'm doing maladjusted?
Is there a way to "dismount" the AUX: device. I ask this as I seem
to be having trouble printing to my LA50 after mounting the device.
The error msg is "device in use" or some such other "too bad I'm
busy" kind of error. Didn't write it down, sorry.
Does anybody have a copy of the MicroEmacs executable on the net
with the "patch to make MicroEmacs 3.x run through AUX:" as described
in Steve's documentation?
Are there any other ANSI style screen editors available that could
run thru AUX:? Read a note recently about an effort to port SEDT
to the Amiga, with a possible future enhancement to let it run
over AUX:. Anything else out there?
What other things are there to do with an AUX: device?
WOW... I love the Amiga! Multi-tasking AND multi-user!
Thanks for any and all answers to these questions.

486.5 | Dial-in to AUX:? any advice appreciated! | WAV14::HICKS | in Maleldil's way | Tue Feb 21 1989 22:50 | 17 |
| Gee, this topic doesn't seem to get much action. Am I one of very
few to see potential in AUX:?
Has anyone played with WB 1.3 AUX:? I have this crazy idea that
just won't quit. I'd like to dial into my serial port (which has
an auto-answer modem on it) and be able to read/edit text files
on my Amy. Has anyone ever tried this? does the screen appear to
be one window to Amy? I know I could do this with bulletin-board
software, but can AUX: do what I want? Would I just mount Aux:
and start a newcli from the workbench screen? Does AUX: just default
to the serial port speed setting in preferences?
Am I just going crazy to try something that can't be done? A little
guidance friends... periodicals, articles, a gentle hand on the
shoulder telling me I'm off my noodle.

486.6 | | RDCV01::RANDREWS | I have a cunning plan | Wed Feb 22 1989 01:23 | 4 |
| Well, the toughest part seems to be the editing part.
To read the files, all you would have to do is TYPE them. I don't
know that any of the editors will work with AUX: I suspect EDIT
might, but I don't know about any others.
