484.1 | INSTALL | ECADJR::BOSCH | | Fri May 01 1987 11:26 | 8 |
| If you use disk copy to copy work bench, you don't have to do anything
else. However, if you format a disk, and then copy each of the
files over, you have to INSTALL the disk (by using the INSTALL command)
This makes the disk bootable.

FYI: As of AmigaDOS 1.2, FORMAT automatically does an INSTALL for you.

Are you sure? My 1.2 Gamma version doesn't automatically
install a formatted disk.

I remember reading in the Enhancer docs that there is an option
on the DOS format command and I think the option was settable via
the INFO command on the ICON (under TOOL type). Maybe dave has
his set to always INSTALL.
just a thought,

I also ALWAYS do it from the CLI (no puns please :-) .. I think that is why
I get the INSTALL as a default.

re: .5 Just thought I'd correct myself before someone else does...
There does not seem to be any mention in the 1.2 docs of the format
command doing an install. I don't know where I got the impression
that there was...
