I have recently bought an Amiga. The Amiga is new but I bought a used 1080 monitor. After about 2 or 3 days of use, a problem has developed. The colors seem all wrong. If I go into preferences and move the color slides around, I get eratic results. I supect that I am partially losing one or more of the color signals. Has anybody seen this happen? Any idea about the cause? Is it the monitor? Could it be the video chip? Or could it just be a faulty monitor cable. I was using it when all of a sudden, the colors changed. In particular, the orange color of the cursor changed to a dull muddy baige. Is there any place in the area that does repairs in/out of warranty? Thanks John Riley

474.1 | Try the Composite Signal? | LEDS::ACCIARDI | Wed Apr 22 1987 17:55 | 5
As a quick check on the RGB cable, try hooking a standard RCA jack from the Amiga composite out to the monitor's composite in. Then, switch the 1080 from RGB to composite from the front panel switch. If the colors are OK, then you probably have a bad RGB cable, or the RGB output itself is screwy.
474.2 | Local Service Center | THRUST::RILEY | Thu Apr 30 1987 12:49 | 17
I tryed the composite out and the problem was still there, so I think it is the Amiga itself. A little more detail: I went into preferences and used the color slides. The blue and green slides seemed to work fine but the red slide didn't. The color using the red slide (with the blue and green slides set all the way to the left) went from black to a deep red in the middle of the slide. As I continued to move the slide to the right, it suddenly went back to black and then went to a deep red again at the right edge. I called the dealer and he said that to take it to the local service center. Does any body know where one is in northern Mass or southern N.H.? Thanks John
