| Only one I know of in Nashua (actually two):
ComputerMart on Main St. in downtown
Electronics Boutique at Pheasant Lane Mall (near Sears)

| I dropped in at Electronics Boutique last weekend. They have the
1000 on display. They will be carrying the 500 when it becomes
available, but not the 2000.

| Does anyone know whether there are any Software, Etc. stores
(B. Dalton spin-off) in the area. I used to find good stuff
at one back in Seattle before I moved here.

409.4 | Another AMI dealer in NH | LEDS::HAGER | I Remember Bird and Clifford | Thu Dec 15 1988 18:32 | 13 |
| This looks like the right note for this. The Boston Globe today
has a full page ad from:
State Street Discount
Route 1, 3613 Lafayette Road
Portsmouth, NH
603-436-7047 or 800-242-1519 outside NH
Appliances, electronics (lots of monitors), VCR's, etc., but what
caught my eye was the "Commodore Amiga 500 for $499.88, no phone
orders, 1 per household". No other info was given other than the
minimum "what is it" type of stuff. Usual disclaimers apply, I've
never even been there.

409.5 | Update on NH stores | DECWIN::SANBORN | Dave Sanborn -- DTN: 296-6638 | Wed Nov 08 1989 13:09 | 9 |
| Both Computer Mart, and Electonic Boutique have dropped the Amiga. The
only NH stores that I've been able to find so far are Computer Eyes
in the GreyStone Plaza on Rt. 101A Nashua, and Software Etc. in the
Mall of New Hampshire, Manchester. I just called State Street
Discount, and they have the A500 for $569, A501 for $139, and 3 1/2"
drive for $139. These prices seem almost too good to be true, has
anyone delt with this place? Are they legit?

I have never dealt with them, but I have seen their adds in the Boston
Globe. They are a volume camera/phone/vcr/television etc. place that will
probably not know much about the Amiga.
The prices quoted for State Streeet are not all that great by the way. Most
of the Amiga specific stores will match or come very close to what you
mentioned. The state street total is about $850. Wouldn't you rather buy from
a place like System Eyes for say $900 (I am guessing don't quote me) that would
include a club membership for 15% software discounts, and free FredFish disk
copying?
Best of all, you would be supporting a REAL Amiga Store. A real store will
understand you when you ask questions and will let you try out your Amiga
before you bring it home etc. etc. etc. If something doesn't work
(What! With a computer??) you have someone who can take complaints more
complex than "It doesn't work". Find out the return/repair policy
at State Street before you "save" your $50.

409.7 | Sears and Software, etc. | DICKNS::MACDONALD | WA1OMM 7.093/145.05/223.58 AX.25 | Wed Nov 08 1989 13:53 | 3 |
| Hmmm ..
Software, etc. and I believe Sears now, both sell the A500.

| FWIW, one of the Amiga print ads in the Globe listed State Street
as an authorized Amiga dealer. System Eyes was not listed. Dunno
what, if any, significance that has.

| I heard a radio ad this morning. Computers, Etc. featuring the NEW
Commodore Amiga.
They are having software open house tomorrow, with representatives from
several companies including Commodore.

409.10 | System Eyes - still authorized (it rhymes) | ESPN::BLAISDELL | Bippity, boppity, boo | Fri Nov 10 1989 10:32 | 9 |
| This peaked my curiosity so I called System Eyes to find out whether
they are still authorized. They told me that they were still an
authorized dealer. The reason that they were not listed in the
ad was that they were running their own ads in the globe and had
decided to do so prior to being approached by Commodore for the
"group" ad. They still have an agreement they signed with the globe
they have to fulfill before Christmas but are considering advertising
in the "group" ad as well. Hope this helps you out in looking for
an Amiga dealer.

409.11 | State Street is authorized I guess. | STAR::ROBINSON | | Fri Nov 10 1989 12:56 | 7 |
| RE: 8 I saw the print ad authorizing State Street right after I
complained about them... Maybe I should take back what I said before.
I don't know, I am just trying to live up to the time-honored
notes tradition of having opinions without letting facts get in the
way. ;-} Has anyone been there (to State Street, that is)? Can we
trust a Commodore Authorization? Sorry if I bad mounthed a good dealer.
