393.0. "A2000 keyboard with A1000???" by GUIDUK::ROY (Steve Roy) Sun Mar 22 1987 21:15

Does anyone know if the A2000 keyboard could be purchased
separately and then used with the A1000?

I've seen pictures of this keyboard with its extended keypad
and had the wild idea that with the WB1.2 SETMAP function
    	this combination might just work.

Can someone expand on this or possibly explain the
    	impossibility of this configuration.

Someone on the usenet (from CBM I believe) commented that the two
keyboards were not plug compatible, but a very simple connecter
could be made as they are functionally compatible.

No details on such a connecter were given though.

Along the same lines, could one connect a non-Amiga keyboard to
it? Does anyone know what the interface looks like (electrically
and SW-wise)? I*M compatible? There are lot's of inexpensive
    XT/AT/etc. keyboards around...

I'd like to re-ask the question in .0.

Has anybody used an A2000 keyboard on an A1000?

I haven't tried it, the catch is the price of an A2000 keyboard.
The Memory Location mentioned something like $130 for one. Hard
to justify when the only improvement is a full keypad.
