Hi. I finally got a 2400 baud modem today for my Amiga. I decided
on the CTS Datacom 2424(whatever) for $299 mail-order. I want to
try it out, and I have the following items ready to use:
XMODEM for both the vax and Amiga
ARC16 and 22 on the Vax
Now, all I need is some sort of Amiga Chop program for after XMODEM
transfers. I know I'll probably need a Basic one and a binary one
since you can't run a binary program till you chop it.
Also, I am looking for the sources to ARC and a program called Tracker,
which converts an Amiga disk into about 8 files for modem transfer.
If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Are you sure that Dave Wecker's VT100 emulator doesn't autochop?
I use Comm133 for the commercial networks, and it autochops.
By the way, ARC files need not be chopped.
I have a utility called 'FIXOBJ' that autochops XMODEM transfers
that weren't chopped. I will upload it as an ARChive to...
JAKE::USER2:[ACCIARDI.AMIGA]
To use FIXOBJ, type.."FIXOBJ 'oldname' 'newname' "
Check my directory on Friday night, since I will not be home tonight.

| 354.2 | If Its ARCed You Need Not Chop | AUTHOR::MACDONALD | WA1OMM Listening 224.64 | Thu Feb 26 1987 12:11 | 6 |
You needn't bother with a chop program if you are downloading an
ARC'ed file. Nearly all the programs I have ever downloaded have
been ARC'ed.

Yeah, but to download the ARCheive program, you have to be able
to chop it.

Re: .3 If you use Kermit to download the software, then you do not need to chop it (unless the software was uploaded with XMODEM). | |||||
