339.0. "Editor" by AUTHOR::MACDONALD (WA1OMM Listening 224.64) Fri Feb 20 1987 13:24

    UEDIT is a faily complete editor (albeit a bit large) that has a
    number of unique features. Its shareware and does not come with
    a comprehensive manual. You can get a 100 page user's guide from
    the author though for $25.

    At any rate, it will be available on

    after 8 pm local time this evening. Program even has talking error
    messages!

339.1De-arc'ing problemPOLAR::GOSLINGArt Gosling - Kanata Mfg. I.S.Mon Feb 23 1987 12:1023
       Paul, please DON'T stop posting this stuff - its great!

       I tied up my phone for about 3 hours on Friday night downloading
       uedit.arc as well as arc22.arc, and a2000.arc from your directory.
       I also brought over viewilbm.arc which I have sitting around for a
       while. The arc22.arc and viewilbm.arc files de-arc'd fine, but
       the uedit resulted in me getting an error upon de-arc'ing
       (incomplete header record) and the resulting a2000.hi failed to
       display using DISPLAY (bad header). I renamed the .hi to .img,
       but with same result.

       I would have thought perhaps my transfer was bad, but the viewilbm
       and acr22 programs worked!

       I used DBW_VT100_25 Kermit for the transfer process.

       Anyone else have the same problem?

       Thanks

       Art

    I used ARC22 to create the A2000.ARC file and UEDIT.ARC. You might
    try deARCing using ARC22. I will however doublecheck the file and
    upload them again this evening. I used XMODEM to transfer. Seems
    to work a lot faster than KERMIT.

339.3GlitchesAUTHOR::MACDONALDWA1OMM Listening 224.64Mon Feb 23 1987 14:519
    Whoops ... I created the ARC22.ARC file using ARC22. Since you deARCed
    it okay, the ARC programs must be upward compatible. However, the
    UEDIT.ARC program is the original file which I deARCed to get my
    executables. Since it has not been touched, I can only assume that
    there was a glitch either in your download, or my upload.

    I will use KERMIT this time to upload it.

    I would also recommend that you copy the files to your VAX and download
    them to your Amiga from your VAX. A local download would seem to
    be more reliable than going through several thousand miles of cable.
339.5did copy to my vax accountPOLAR::GOSLINGArt Gosling - Kanata Mfg. I.S.Mon Feb 23 1987 15:436
       Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression Paul, I did copy them
       into my VAX account before down loading.

339.6For what it's worth...SNO78C::METRO_OAWed Feb 25 1987 03:419

    Fellas,
    I have downloaded both A2000.arc and DISPLAY.arc and they have both
    worked OK for me.
    I deARCed using ARC V1.6
    Art, it could have been a faulty download.

    Regards from Down Under,
    Rob
339.7I'll try againPOLAR::GOSLINGArt Gosling - Kanata Mfg. I.S.Wed Feb 25 1987 08:585
