313.0. "Function key input?" by ECC::JAERVINEN (impersonal name) Mon Feb 09 1987 05:20
Sorry for pestering again those of you who have the full
documentation...
I was writing a program in Basic (yeecchh) that reads the keyboard
with INKEY$ or INPUT$.
Everything works more or less as expected. But I would have liked
to use the function keys also with shift (and possibly with alt).
Now, just using INKEY$ or opening KYBD: and using INPUT$ gives
the same code for the function keys regardless of shift, control
alt etc. Same seems to apply for the CON: device. Interestingly,
using RAW: for input returns escape sequences from the function
keys - and different ones shifted and unshifted.
Is there a documented/preferred way of doing this? How do the keymaps
work? (I would obvioulsy like all 'normal' characters pass thru
the keymap).
Also, is there any way of setting the numeric keypad into an
'application' mode?
