308.0. "uue,uud help?" by TRUMAN::LEIMBERGER (Bill Leimberger) Sat Feb 07 1987 03:28

    I have just downloaded an arced file from Plink that contains
    	uuencode,uudecode,and uuencode.man .After dearcing I downloaded
    an encoded file from the Vax .It was just an assembler version of
    the Amigados command CD .The .man file from plink would not print
    out correctly ,it seems as if it has sections of source code imbedded
   and ony small sections were readable .Well I quickly decoded the
    CD.uue I got from the Vax an tried it .It worked great,and because
    of the size of the file decoding was almost instantneous .I then
    tried to encode the file and ran into problems .I used the command
    line "uuencode cd ".the Amiga printed out "Begin 777 cd" an seemed
    to hang .after a considerable time I did a Ctrl C and hit return.
    the process stopped ok but I can,t figure out what is happening.
    My thoughts are
    	1: I need to supply a destination "filename"
    	2: the executable is faulty
    	3: I did not wait long enough.
    I am glad the uudecode works because I needed this the most but
    it would be nice if I could get uuencode to work .Of course if
    I could learn how to improve my binary download skills I could
    run uue,uud at the vax ,I just have more luck with transfering of
    text . Any thoughts on uue or binary downloads would help.

308.1capture output?TRUMAN::LEIMBERGERBill LeimbergerSat Feb 07 1987 11:266
    Ok I found out I have to use the destination file in the command
    line. Now the file encodes but end up scrooling to my screen .
    On the Vax I have a command file to send the output to a file. Any
    ideas on how to capture the output to a file on the amiga .

    Input and output redirection is pretty standard on the amiga.

    Try using a >file on the command.
