306.0. "POPCLI, version 2" by TLE::RMEYERS (Randy Meyers) Thu Feb 05 1987 23:41
In note 302, several people discussed the best way to start a new CLI.
The best way is to run POPCLI. POPCLI is a small background task that
provides two services. First, if you type left-Amiga Escape, it starts
a new cli. Second, it provides an automatic screen saver that will
blank the monitor screen if the Amiga receives no input events for
a specified period of time. (You can restore the display by moving the
mouse or my touching any key on the keyboard.)
The source for POPCLI version 2, along with executable, documentation,
and icon can be found in:

I'm not sure what version I have, but does v2 still leave the CLI
hanging when it is started from a CLI and you then do an ENDCLI?
Does anyone know a way to get around this?

306.2 | Yes, it had the problem | TLE::RMEYERS | Randy Meyers | Sat Feb 07 1987 03:21 | 5 |
| Re .1:
Yes, the version of POPCLI that I have has the disadvantage that you
can not exit the CLI that runs it. That hasn't been a problem for me
since I like having the initial CLI around.

| Wait a minute. I downloaded your popcli II last night and found
it has the problem fixed with ENDCLI.
The readme file said to make sure to do the >nil: in
run popcli newcli >nil:
(I beleive).
Thanks it works great!
