Does anyone know anything about GEnie (General Electric Network
for Information Exchange)?
I know they charge $5/hr at 1200 baud.
They advertise their signup account ... 1-800-638-8369
Enter XJM11916,GENIE at
the U#= prompt.
They use HALF DUPLEX which VT100_DBW doesn't seem to support. I
imagine local echo can be turned on the modem to simulate half duplex.
At any rate, does anyone know about this system and what they have
for the Amiga?

It sounds like the old GE network, which is a piece of archaic old
s___. May have recently been warmed over to X.25/X.29 spec. The
only really exciting thing may be the coverage it gets you.
Half duplex is and will be hardwired into their network, as they
think that full duplex is a thing of the past, which has no place
in a modern data communications network.
Excuse me. I have a several ton chip on my shoulder when it comes
to those barracudas. Sign me ex-GEISCO (General Electric Information
Services Co) employee.
