| What does Page Setter go for ($)? How are the Zuma Fonts? Do
they work in High Res mode better that the workbench ones?
Do they have large pitchs 20 to 40 point?

I also picked up a copy of pagesetter. It cost about $150.
The program seems to work very well. It supports the clipboard.
But I have had trouble printing. It seems that the printdriver
for my Canon-1080A puts in a blank line when a reset esc sequence
is sent. I modified the driver and all seems well.

The Zuma Fonts are pretty good. They have sizes up to about 72
point. They aren't perfect tho. Occasionally (not very often)
they cause problems with some packages. DeluxeVideo seems to have
problems with the larger point sizes. Some times they act like
they aren't there.
The Hi-Res fonts are quite good. However, when using DeluxePaint
in Hi-Res, there often isn't enough memory to use them, unless you
use less colors in the palette.
They work beautifully with Page Setter.

216.4 | I found it | HYSTER::DEARBORN | Trouvez Mieux | Tue Dec 16 1986 09:49 | 5 |
| Last night I found a way to check the size of graphics in the graphics
editor. You can turn on a coordinates readout. It would be nice
if you could turn on a reference grid like the one in the page layout
editor. It would make 'eyeballing' easier.

| Page Setter has received rave reviews and is considered a far better
product than the Brown-Waugh electronic publishing system.

with it. I can even save documents to RAM: now. WOW!

216.7 | Pagesetter Problems | AUTHOR::MACDONALD | CUP/ML | Sun Dec 21 1986 21:49 | 21 |
| Help needed with Pagesetter ....
When I print using V1.2 Kickstart and the Pagesetter diskette for
Workbench, pages print okay on my Epson. When I try printing while
running Pagesetter off the V1.2 Workbench, I get a dastardly narrow
blank line across the entire page about every 10 lines or so. It
appears to coincide with the length of the printer buffer to. Again,
it only seems to happen using V1.2 Workbench. The release note on
Page 8 of the V1.2 Release Notes about Epson and other dot matrix
printers does not work - it only makes it much worse.
The print that comes off the Canon PJ1080A is almost illegible and
not the same point sizes as the Epson. I thought graphic output
was all alike. Plus the Canon leaves about a 1/2" of blank space
at about the same spot in the output as the Epson does when it is
printing under V1.2.
Any help??

216.8 | White line fever | HYSTER::DEARBORN | Trouvez Mieux | Mon Dec 22 1986 08:57 | 5 |
| I had the same "white line" problem with my Juki printer. I eliminated
it by swithching the printer from pin feed to "roller feed". It
seems that the holes in the paper do not provide an accurate paper
advance.

216.9 | Not The Pin Roller | AUTHOR::MACDONALD | CUP/ML | Mon Dec 22 1986 09:14 | 14 |
| These lines do not appear to be related to the pin roller since
it only happens when running the Program under V1.2 of Workbench,
not under V1.1 (which is what is on the Pagesetter diskette).
It happens about every 10 lines which coincides with buffer reloading
on the Epson. I even copied the Pagesetter disk's Epson print driver
over to my V1.2 diskette, but the same thing happened. Very unusual
to say the least.
I would rather run the program off my V1.2 Workbench. I sent a letter
to Gold Disk today along with several sheets of output describing
the problem.

216.10 | Pagesetter Wb V1.2 Printing Fix | AUTHOR::MACDONALD | CUP/ML | Tue Dec 23 1986 10:31 | 10 |
| The problem with printing documents from the Pagesetter program
using the Press option while under V1.2 Workbench is a known bug.
However, it is not Gold Disk's bug, but rather Commodore's bug.
The people at Gold Disk have indicated that Commodore has admitted
to a "stupid mistake."
The folks at Gold Disk say that using the Pageprinter utility will
avoid the problem. Apparently, when the buffer clears, it produces
a linefeed. Even though its a micro linefeed 7/72", it sticks out
like a sore thumb. It doesn't happen in Workbench V1.1 though.

216.11 | More... | HYSTER::DEARBORN | Trouvez Mieux | Thu Dec 25 1986 18:39 | 18 |
| I did a little printout testing last night. Yep, when you use the
PagePrint Utility, everything prints out beautifully. I also noticed
that in the 1.2 Enhancer notes, they point out that some Epson
compatible printers may have fine white lines during printouts of
graphics. They suggest setting the page size requestor in Preferences
to custom. I tried this too. It gets rid of the white lines, but
now creates a slight overlap of each line.
Stick to PagePrint for your final copies, and everything will be
fine. You can even print one while you work on another. Ah,
multi-tasking.
Here's another tip I just figured out too. Don't like the default
colors of the program? Go into preferences while it is running,
then select USE. Now you will get the workbench colors.

216.12 | French letters support | BALZAC::TRADUCTION | | Thu Jan 29 1987 09:15 | 5 |
| I would like to know if PAGESETTER and the existing word-processors for the
Amiga support the accentuated letters
of the French language ? (,,,,)

216.13 | Should work. | ELWOOD::PETERS | | Thu Jan 29 1987 10:56 | 10 |

PAGESETTER can do it, but it would take some work. Pagesetter
uses the standard AMIGA fonts. If you had a font set with the
accentuated lettes Pagesetter would be happy to use them. Pagesetter
also comes with a very small word processer that could use them.
I used one of the public domain font editors to make some special
math symbols and some Greek letters for a report and it worked well.
