I am particularly interested in the sidecar for hard disk access.
I can't imagine it will be as fast as a box solely dedicated for the drive
using DMA. But I am curious. I would be nice to get a power supply, and
a couple of 20 meg hard cards with DOS compatibility thrown in for kicks.
(After all, no AMIGA owner really *cares* about PC/DOS, do they?)
So.. any info on sidecar options is definitely appreciated.
(Or hard disks in general (different topic I guess).)

167.2 | Its' the real thing? | CSSE::WARD | | Wed Nov 12 1986 15:34 | 12 |
| The most recent issue of info-world speaks of IBM clones breaking
some IBM software (42%?) The author states that only COMPAQ claims
100% and some clone with volume are good about this.
I heard the sidecar is a re-engineered version of a time-worn CBM
clone sold mostly in Europe. Does it run Framework or otherwise
behave correctly? A sidecar that won't run all MSDOS software might
bump me back to considering a DOS-2-DOS or 68000 XDOS emulation
and then wait for developments for add-ons.
I'll wait on the announcement.

| has anybody heard if a PC/AT version of Sidecar is planned, rumored,
etc?
Most of the ibm rumors i've heard are pointing to the death
of the PC and PC/XT. They claim PC/AT and MS-Windows will inherit
the earth.

167.4 | A 286 board in a Sidecar? | TUBED::GRAY | Thomas, LA Benchmark Center | Thu Jan 22 1987 16:04 | 4 |

Does anyone know, for that matter, if any of the "Turbo-cards" for
the PC and PC/XT (non-AT compatible 286 boards) will work in the
Sidecar expansion bus?
