148.1 | pump and run ! | ELWOOD::PETERS | | Wed Oct 29 1986 09:41 | 10 |

I have a canon PJ-1080A and have never had a bit of trouble.
I guess that you know how to run the self test. All I did when it
was new was pump ( 8-10 times ), pull to lever up to the lock position,
and print. I used the self test to print a page, the first time
I got about 1/2 to 3/4 a page of nothing then the colors started
one at a time. By the end of the page all jets were working.

148.2 | GOT IT WORKING | KAOM03::GOSLING | | Thu Oct 30 1986 08:55 | 12 |
| Steve, thanks for the help. It took a bit of working, like about
40 pumps in total and running the self test about 5 times, but I
finally got it printing. The instructions left a bit to be
desired, as they implied to me that only 1 pump of the green lever
was required. I guess this is the case when you have left the
unit sit for a day or so, but obviously, after a longer period of
time more drastic measures are required.
Anyway, its nice to be able to see graphics in color.

148.3 | COLOR RENDERING!! | POLAR::GOSLING | Art Gosling - Kanata Mfg. I.S. | Fri Feb 20 1987 13:08 | 27 |

Any one out there with a driver for the Canon printer that does a
good job at rendering colors?
My printer has been sitting idle for a while, but on the weekend I
finally had some time to try out my artistic talents with dPaintII
(I don't plan on quiting my day job!). After printing a couple of
my masterpieces, I came to the conclusion that the overall color
rending was less than perfect. As a test I printed the Reference
Palette (as supplied on one of the dpII disks and as illustrated
on one of the color plates in the manual). The results were less
than spectacular! The driver I have was pulled off a FISH disk
(#8 or something like that).
Question - Is the Canon capable of doing a decent job on the
reference palette, or am I expecting too much?
If the answer is yes, that it should be able to, and you have the
required driver, would it be possible to make it available to me?
I anyone wants to compare my printer output to their's, I have the
copy and would be more than happy to pop it in the mail.
Thanks in advance.

| I have had varying results with the same picture, but I don't believe
its the Canon printer. For instance, I have printed the Gorilla
face and have had it come out correct, but another time had it come
out with a yellowish face. I thought it might be something in V1.2
that caused that or in the program that was used to display the
picture. At any rate, one big problem I have had with the 1080 is
its apparent inability to print a PageSetter file cleanly.
