How does one go about using the Icon Editor on the Amiga?
In particular, how can I make the icons that appear to represent
my basic programs different(i.e. how do I save the image I create
using the tool so that it will display itself as the icon for
my program).

On work bench, in the system Draw theres an Icon Editor. It pretty
easy to use. Basic will give you an Icon when you save. You can
request (load) a Icon to edit from one of the pull down menus.
