16.9 briefly mentions "games and educational software" -- I'm curious
what's available that my 2 and 5 year old daughters could use.
Is there LOGO for Amiga?
Thanks.

Me too. My children are 3 and 7. Does any experience with
software for reading and math development? Once I get it started
my children love Delux Paint... a super-duper etch-a-sketch.
Waiting for more

I've just taken a look at two packages that look really good.
They are the Discovery series. One is math development, and
the other is spelling. The really neat thing is that they
combine the learning with a relatively easy yet enjoyable graphics
game. The kids love it!

Stu, if you don't mind me asking (so that I have a point of
reference) what is the age bracket of your kids - mine are 3 1/2
and 7.
I have been wanting to get something/anything that the kids could
poke at that is educational and at the same time fun, and would
help to foster their computer literacy. When I had the TI99 there
was all kinds of stuff that fit both these criteria, but with the
AMIGA it seems to be slow coming. I also haven't wanted to jump
too fast at the first thing that came on the market (I have seen
the ads for the Discovery series).
Your input would be much appreciated.

| 55.4 | add your own words | DEXTER::MELLITZ | Tazmanian Devil | Sun Nov 09 1986 18:50 | 28 |
I have a 7 year old the has gone from below average to well above
average because of the discovery spell game. Great graphics. The
music is inane but my son likes it.
Oh, for those of you who want to add your own words here how.
In thediectory LESSON.
change thele MEMU to contain the name of youfile and
a letter designator. Usethe old file as a guide.
Next your own words may be added in the following format.
PHONEME_TRANSLATION./WORD.
..
...
It's simple. I did use EA_COPY to create a disk I could play
with. I could write a simple BASIC program but the process I uses
is so simple and quick I didn't even bother.
Open 2 cli's. On one just type SAY. You get 2 more windows.
On other create a new word file with ED. Size them all so that
they are all on screen. Type words in SAY. Get the translation
in the other say window. Then enter the result and worked in
the ED window.
Good Luck
Rich
