I'm getting a whistling out of my DF224 modem. Evn when I hand
dial it dosen't seen to work. I just get an attached message and
then nothing. I'm using the same 15 pin cable that I'm using right
now with the DF03. Any one got any hints.

re: 1
I call "Mr. Might Modem" himself. He never saw the problem before.
He gave me the pin outs for the modem (don't know why they are not
in the manual???). I did do something that worked. I built my own
cable. I use what I considered the bare minimum configuration and
made the assumption that I probably will never us synchronous
mode. The cable I made used pins 1-8 and pin 20 (one to one, male
to male). I used shield twisted multipair wire. The outside shield
is connected to pin 1 and the signal shields are connected to
pin 7.
One more observation. I don't remember what the part number of
the cable was, but as I was leaving this morning I decided to count
the number of pins on the modem cable I was using. There were
16! I didn't have time to further investigate what the 16th
pin was. I don't know about the Amiga, but other computer manufactures
put power (20v) on what they consider unused pins so modem that
are put on their computers don't need a power suppy.

I am having the same problem with my DF224. What pins are you using?
1 through 8 and 20? Perhaps I will snip a few pins.
