| > 1. Irsay has disappeared. YOU ARE IN CHARGE! It is up to you, with
> help from new Coach Ted Marchibroda, to use those picks.
Definitly trade both picks for quality, proven players (which drafting
does not guarantee you) and rebuild with them and signing Plan B
players. Perhaps even trade the Raiders for the rights to the Rocket
and a few players.
> 2. You have become Bob Irsay. What the absolute worst deal you can

| I'm in charge.
I take Steve Entmann with the #1 pick. I then look for a deal for a
proven player and a #1 pick to let someone move down. WOuldn't one of
them run and shooters just love to get Desmond Howard?
I'm Bob Irsay.
I trade the #1 pick to Houston for Drew Hill. With the #2 pick, I take
Desmond Howard, who signs with the CFL.

242.3 | Sporting News takes charge | CRLPS::MACNEAL | ruck `n' roll | Wed Feb 05 1992 15:36 | 11 |
| Here's what Sporting News would do if they were Bob Irsay:
o Steve Emtmann, Jr, dt, Washington St. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts can't pass him up, unless somebody makes them an offer
they can't refuse.
o Desmond Howard, Jr, wr-kr, Michigan Indianopolis Colts
If Ted Marchibroda is hired [he was] as the Colts's coach, he'll have
to give Jeff George some targets for his fastbreak offense. Desmond
is the man. He can return kicks, too. But don't be surprise if the
Colts trade down.

242.4 | What about Bob? | DECWET::METZGER | It's not the thing that you fling... | Wed Feb 05 1992 15:41 | 36 |
|
I'm not Bob...but I play him on TV...
Trade both #1 pick for a 1st,2nd and 3rd round pick to any team picking over
15th in the first round.
trade the #2 pick for a 1st,2nd and 3rd round pick to somebody else.
Draft a whole new offensive line to protect my young stud QB. Let them play
together for 2 straight years.
With the remaining picks draft some defensive backs.
Now I'm bob.....
Trade the #1 pick to the raiders for Roger Craig (washed up running backs are
good for a team right?)
Trade the #2 pick for the rights to Dexter Manly and convince him to come out
of retirement and convince the NFL to give him one more shot. Prove to the
commisioner that he really is rehabilitated this time and he'll promise to stay
off the stuff....Give Dexter a huge contract with a vacation condo in Columbia
as part of the deal...
Agree to switch stadiums and locations with Victor Kiam. The improving patriots
move to Indy (Vic the slick will still own them) and you agree to move up to NE
because you hear the fans will support the team and the stadium is a great place
to go see a game......

| Replacing Irsay:
Draft Entman with the first pick. Try to swing a deal like the Pats and
get multiple picks for the 2nd pick - maybe someone really wants Klingler.
If I can swing a deal, grab the best OL available.
As Irsay:
Sell the team to Japanese interests and force Fay Vincent to be a
season ticket holder.

| As one who believes in building a team starting with the offensive
line, I'm in total agreement with Metz (.4). Look what the Hogs have
meant to the Redskins over the last decade; also, the Oilers laid
themselves a good foundation by taking an offensive lineman #1 for 3-4
years in a row in the early 80s. Were I in charge, I'd definitely make
trade-down deals with both picks that would still enable me to get some
good young o-linemen.
If I were Irsay? Hmmmm, tough to think of something that would top
his worst screwups....

| If I'm replacing Irsay,
I trade 1 and 2 for a bunch of players I need, then grab
up some good OL from plan B.
If I'm Irsay?
Simple, I hire Ray Handley and all of his assistants from
the Giants.

| Me: Trade the #1 and Dickerson to Detroit for Andre Ware and Raymond
Berry. Oh, seriously... draft Entmann #1 and trade down with the second
one for a good player and a #1. One option: to KC for their #1 and
Harvey Williams. Draft an OL. Pick up a Brian Brennan or Tim Brown
off plan B. Cornelius Bennett too, while you're at it. Ok, so the
last part won't work.
Irsay: Sign Bert Jones because Marchibroda won with him last time.
Draft Rocket, who goes to CFL, and Entmann, who holds out because
he wasn't the #1 pick...

242.9 | | DYPSS1::ROPER | BRoper DTN-433-4336 | Wed Feb 05 1992 16:55 | 19 |
| If I'm in Charge:
Draft Steve Entman with the number one pick. That one's easy. Every
team is looking for defensive line studs such as Reggie White, Bruce
Smith, etc.
With the #2 pick, I'd trade it to Dallas for their #1 pick actually
position 13 in the draft courtesy of the Vikes and their second and
third round picks courtesy of the Vikes. With the second and third
round picks I'd trade with other teams to get a slew of
third/fourth/fifth round picks to use on offensive lineman.
If I'm Irsay (Shudder..):
I'd get on the phone immediately with Vic Kiam. I'd trade #'s 1 and 2
to the Pats on the sole condition that Kiam swaps cities with me in the
middle of the night during the Major League Baseball All-Star break!

send them to the Rams for Eric Dickerson. And no one will be able to talk him
out of it.

242.11 | | USCTR2::NAHEARN | | Thu Feb 06 1992 09:07 | 26 |
| Replacing Irsay:
I'd trade the #1 (yup, the rights to Emtman) to the Redskins for their
two #1 picks (6th & 28th?), Ricky Sanders and Bobby Wilson.
I'd use the #2 pick to take Desmond Howard and the #6 pick to take
Bob(?) Whitfield. With the 28th pick, they could likely grab Greg
Skrepenek (I *KNOW* I didn't spell that right!!!!).
That would give them 2 quality wideouts for their no-huddle offense, a
#1 DL from last year's draft, and two of the best OL in this year's
draft.
The Redskins are known for giving up their first round picks...and
might very well part with TWO for a player the calibre of Emtman.
If I were Irsay:
I'd draft Mike Tyson #1, only if the NFL assures me that I retain his
rights 'til he's put on a work-release program....and trade the #2 to
Pittsburgh for the rights to sign J_e Walt_n on as _ffensive

Me:
Draft Eatman with the #1. Pick up Desmond Howard with the #2 and
wheel and deal with the R&S boys for some big proven OL. and a high
pick in next years draft.
Me Playing Irsay:
Trade the #1 to the Raiders for Jim Plunket and Lyle Alzado. Quickly
turn around and make a deal with the Redskins for John Riggens and a
10th round pick in the 2010 draft for the #2. Then wake up in the
morning and be surprised when the sun come up !

| Actually, Metz, former '49ers asst. Vikings Haid Coach Denny Green
is going after Roger Craig right now, and another older '9er whose
name excapes me right now, a fullback.
This has been received well in the northland. Craig will fit right
in with Green, and isn't a moany-woany baby who'll refuse to block
a la Hoo-show or Terry Allen (who's learning) or Nelson. Also, even
though Roger's old he's in magnificient shape what with the
conditioning and that the '9ers played a style a ball not particularly
punishing on RBs.

Minny-soda can have Craig. They'll vastly over pay him for what he's currently
worth and try to work him into the offense even though he's a has been.
Craig has nothng left. He's lost more than just one step. He's extremely
easy to bring down now. No need to gang tackle him. Just one pop and he's on his
rump. I've seen guys bring him down with one arm. He was great in his prime but
he was inflicted with heavy damage in SF because he touched the ball so much.
He might not have gone head first into the line 30 times a game like Earl
Cambell but he got quite a few licks put on him. He used to undergo a couple of
hours of deep massage the day after games to get the bruises out. Age has
caught up to him and he'll do nothing for Minny-soda....

| All that's true, Metz, but by that evaluation Roger looks danged
good cuz at least he won't be whining or skipping camp to go
bobsledding or, like Darren Nelson, diving sideways to the ground
so as to not be mowed down by a raging DE on his way to the QB.

| Trade the #1 pick away and get acouple of #1's for it. Take Whitfield
with the 2nd pick and go after Carl pickens with one of the picks
acquired in the trade. Take the next best OL with the otherOL. If they
don't get a line they are gonna have to draft a QB in a few years
'cause Jeff George is gonna get killed behind that line.
Someone in an earlier note said they should sign Tim Brown off of Plan
B, he isn't on Plan B.
If I was Irsay, I would trade both #1's to the Washington Bullets for
OVERWEIGHT forward John "Hot Plate" Williams and try him on the OL!
