    I started this note as much for information as anything else, because
    I'm no geographic position to report a lot on Houston sports (help
    Keith Mac !) 
    
    But Houston football (for example) is looking up :
    
    - The Houston Coogs are playing an exciting brand of football, at least
    until their dramatic crash and burn of the last 10 days, where they
    have been outscored 92-20 !
    
    I think it's no exaggeration to describe this as the worst period in UH
    sports since the NCAA title loss to NC State. After such high
    expectations, to see a crash and burn of this magnitude has to have a
    big effect on the team and supporters.
    
    - Rice University's last winning season was in ....

    No joke. But they might finally joing the first division this year
    under 2nd year coach Fred Goldsmith. The Owls knocked off Tulane 28-19
    to raise their record to 2-1. Who'd thunk it ! :-)
    
    It would be an amazing feat if they could win 6 games, 7, and we're
    talking bowl berth.

	I noticed Rice turning it around too. Used to be if they showed up on onea them football cards, they were an automatic. Now I'd think twice about picking against them. Didn't they beat Nortwestern too? denny

	Mike you got reeeeel quiet since I started the Suns note ! Anyhow, I must say one thing about the Cougars after the last two weeks : I now believe in the SI cover jinx .... :-) Moreover, it's obvious that UH's best team was the Ware/Hazzard/Lathon/Montgomery team. This club has a weak offensive line, and a pathetic defense with a really weak scheme. 92-20 the last two weeks ... it seems like UH is playing out the string - after just three weeks. I wonder if they'll remember that they still have a conference scheudle ? Doc

	RE: Mike Miller The bad news for him is that he's not eligible to play until the '93 season. He lost this year of eligibility 'cuz he played against Michigan and he has to sit out next year. Joe
