I have to drive home from Chelmsford to Hampton. I'm further from

Chances are Dan can still get to us via Mail that way. In fact, if Dan

| Looks like Lufay beat me to it. Sorry SPORTSters, that's the way it
goes, and I'll miss the laughs, arguments and friendships from these
notesfiles. I doubt there will ever be an adequate replacement for
sports notes outside of DEC.
Yes, I'm leaving DEC. GEEP is for Engineers, and I no longer desire to
be in the technical end of things, scrounging so I can't afford an
overpriced condominium in Massachesetts. Actually, that's not why I'm
leaving. Rather, I always knew I'd return to school, it's just life at
DEC had a way of quickly turning from 2 years planned into 7 years of
reality.
I'll be at Columbia University in New York City. If any of you come
down that way on business trips or for any reason, be sure to give me a
holler. I'd pass on an address and phone number, but it's such a
secret that *I* don't even know it yet. I'm sure if anyone wants to
reach me, they can get it through Jeff, JoJ or Mark.
Next Friday's my last day, but I really don't know how much I'll be at
work, so just in case, I wish you all well and a fond farewell. I hope
DEC enjoys good times again very soon.

| The top then REAL reasons why Dan is leaving DEC to go to grad school at
Columbia:
10. Wants to prove his undergrad degree wasn't benefitted by park
effects.
9. Wants to be in a school where the student-athletes are really
student-athletes.
8. Heard that Columbia girls are easy
7. thought Columbia was where Ohio State played. Figured he could make
catcalls at bob Knight.
6. Wants to go some place where no one knows who Jeff Reardon is.
5. Wanted to be where the real action is in playground hoops.
4. Wants to change name to Biff, date Muffy, and wear cardigans.
3. Always been jealous that Needle is an Ivy Leaguer.
2. Started to grow tired of Maynard.
And the Number 1 reason why Dan is leaving DEC to go to Columbia:
1. The only place he could find that had a worse football team than the
JETS !!!

| Too much, JD! That's some funny stough. OK, so Dan's leaving. Nice
suggestion to have me act as Dan-net and post stuff for him, but I'll wager
that there are more people who would rather never hear from him again and I'll
side with that camp. Besides, he'll be all over the usenet as soon as he
settles in.
Dan, not going to be at work much? So who's to know the difference from
before? I swear sometimes you had a batch job that just randomly entered notes
about park effects and picked a random Red Sox name. As a matter of fact, even
though he works in my building, I've never actually seen Dan. He's just a
clever (OK, not so clever) computer simulation written by two frustrated
Columbia grad students.
As for the gathering, I don't even know where Chelmsford is. It's up north
somewhere, isn't it? Anyway, I can't make it. But why don't we have a
gathering for Dan after he has left somewhere around Boston? That way we could
have fun and not have to worry about Dan being there.

Hawk,
In your login command file, you can do the following:
DEF THE_SCHNEID_ONE "DECWRL::""[email protected]"""
Then, when sending mail, simply send to THE_SCHNEID_ONE.
If you set your mail transport to NM% (assuming NMAIL is on your system)

The PA in DECPA stands for Palo Alto.
There is no east coast gateway, although CRL worked for a while. I find DECPA
to be more accessible than DECWRL. Either is pretty fast. Once it gets out of
DEC, it takes a while to get to Dan. Incoming are much more immediate.
