140.0. "GIANTSMANIA IV LIVES!" by PARVAX::WARDLE () Wed Apr 24 1991 10:26

GIANTSMANIA IV is not looking good. The Giants have required all season
ticket holders to buy the pre-season games as part of the complete
    ticket package.

Soooooo, there are no tickets available. I just talked to the stadium
    about it.

    Bummer....

I figure we can either still have the Manis and just buy tickets at the
game from scalpers, or come up with another event and blow off the
    Giants.

It will be either the weekend of August 10 or August 17, since the
Giants play Buffalo the weekend of August 3 and the Patriots the
    weekend of August 24.

It's a nice idea to have everyone in the booth but it won't be
practical since we are implementing a league-standard computer system
and we already have to squeeze two more people into an already crowded
area. Regarding the burping for communication, however, that's not too
far off, since the noise level in the press box can get rather high and
we have a couple of guys who aren't exactly shrinking violets when it
comes to expressing their opinions of what's going on.

I don't get it. Why does it matter if there are tickets or not?
You guys actually go inside to watch the game?

When I used to visit Penn State for big football games, we generally
passed out at the tailgate party about an hour before game time
and hoped to wake up in time to watch the 4th quarter on TV.

They don't show the game on tv until 12:00, so maybe by 3AM, they might
    wake up...
140.9I'm all for scheduling the Manis anyway!!!!PARVAX::WARDLEIt's just not my cross to bearSun Apr 28 1991 18:0813
I agree with Mike...it should be absolutely no trouble getting tickets.
Most of the Giants fans will be unloading them. Why in the world would
they want to go to an early pre-season game when they get to see 8
    regular season games.

So why don't we schedule the Manis, and in the meantime I'll look
around and see what I can find in the way of tickets. Otherwise, we
just buy them at the game. We won't have to pay more than face value.

Shoot, if worst comes to worst, we can just go over to one of the local
bars in the area and watch it on the tube.

First of all, Kwak's right, "First and Ten a Go Go" must have
been featuring the 'Lee sisters that night. Yikes! We both held
our ground near the door just in case they snapped their leashes.

Secondly, /Don, you mean the two in the lounge at Trump's

particularly drawn to the one with the nicely trimmed beard.
Told me that the Neil Diamond revue really got his blood

Nope, but Hartford does have several fine establishments.

Probably the most popular are Uncle Al's and Uncle Dave's, both owned
by the same guy. Uncle Dave's used to be a Mexican Restaurant called
Jaspers, and Uncle Al's was always a TALC place in one form or another.

There is also Pompei's in East Hartford, which is ok, but nothing to write
home about.

I'm not too familiar with the places in other nearby towns however....

  Walt,

At 1st it was a recruiting set back no doubt but that set us on a high
paced recruiting flurry that has us now on the brink of being titled
"a loaded team" :-). If our pitcher isn't business traveling the Swingers
better short'en there swing because his fast ball can not be touched.

Dinz is the kind of guy, who follows them around,
wherever they may go, from hydrant to dog pound,
he never needs a dog bone and he never needs a leash,
he just impresses them with the way that he eats quiche,
oh he's the Dog Warden, oh he's the Dog Warden, he wanders
round and round and round and round....

When Dinz is on the Jersey shore, he checks out all the pups,
but when it comes to finding the nerve, he just can't get it up,
he's always on duty, from ship to shore to home,
and when he find a hot puppy, she gives old Dinz a bone,
Yeah, he's the Dog Warden, yes he's the Dog Warden, he wanders
round and round and round and round.....

The Dinz is always on the clock his duties never cease,
the ever vigilant Dog Warden, but his chances don't increase
he never catches the puppy, he never catches the dog
So then he just goes on home and plays with his ol' hog,
Yeah, he's the Dog Warden, just call him the Dog Warden,
he wanders round and round and round.....
