113.0. "The Sean Strout Memorial Sports Note Topic" by CAM::WAY (Gonna tell Aunt Mary 'bout Uncle John) Mon Mar 04 1991 11:39

Well, this note is the Sean Strout Memorial Sports Note Topic.

Sean used to be in here quite a bit while he was on co-op. Then
he returned to RIT, where he had NOTES, but not SPORTS notes, and
their SPORTS topic wasn't anywhere near as audacious as this file.

He sent me a sample of their SPORTING fare, and from time to time
he'll update us.....

Check out the hottest action from the RIT Sports Note. IMO, they are
all to BLAM!

Please check out the breathlessness with which the noter reports her
stuff. Also note the references to Cleveland.

And "Night Hawk"? Hawk is that a relative?

Thanks for picking up on my (cranky) request, Night Hawk! Now let's
see how many months this topic goes with "1 reply."...:(

Oh, well, I know at least ONE person in my office I might be able to
    get onto it...

OK, here's the latest poop. Jill Trenary changed coaches. She's now
training in Cleveland with Carol Heiss Jenkins. That's right, folks,
she rejected life with Carlo Fassi in Italy for Cleveland. (Being
originally from Cleveland myself, I think she shows incredible taste.)

Also, Soviet ice dancer Marina Klimova was cleared of that doping
charge at Europeans. Sure enough, that Bulgarian lab that found
testosterone in her sample was found to be not quite so reputable. A
German lab pronounced it clean. Honestly, can you imagine a female ice
dancer shooting up testosterone to improve her performance? Gimme a
    break!!

I will now make wild-n-crazy predictions for worlds:

Ladies (assuming Midori Ito can't make it):
    Gold-Kristi Yamaguchi
    Silver-Tonya Harding
    Bronze-Lisa Sargeant (Canada)
The Europeans STINK!!! Surya Bonaly on the medals stand would be a
    CRIME AGAINST NATURE!!

    Men:
    Gold-Victor Petrenko
    Silver-Todd Eldredge
    Bronze-Kurt Browning
(Kurt is due to skate badly and _pay for it_ someday!)

    Pairs:
    Gold: Miskutienok & Dmitriev
Silver: Hough & Ladret (They finished second at Canadians! It's a
    foregone conclusion!)
    Bronze: Brasseur & Eisler

    Dance:
Gold: Klimova & Ponomarenko (they had to change to stay here, and they
    did)
    Silver: Duchesnays
    Bronze: Usova & Zhulin
(No huge surprises here. But if K&P hadn't "gone radical" this year,
the gold and silver medals would have been reversed.)

All right, that's it for me for now! Someone in the wilderness reply!
(I guess I will find out soon enough if anyone cares...)

I haven't had a chance to check the list, but don't we have a whole
file for ice skating? So they've got one note string, vs our file.
Seems about right to me :-)

We've had the rat-hole in here before on whether sports that are
judged (figure skating, gymnastics, and diving being the big 3)
should have the same level of interest as those with a time or score.
    Personally, I like both flavors.

I don't bother responding to Bruce any more. Especially since I figured out that
BOSS stands for Bruce On Sissy States. The guy has moved from the Sissy state
of Cal to the even more sissy state of Arizona....next stop on the trip for him
is retirement land in Sunny Florida with all the other old folks.

He is covering up for a deep inferiority complex....he probably has a Brian
Boitano poster in his office...

Metz, come here in July and we'll see who the sissy is. It'll be good
for you to bake all that green Seattle moss off you.

Why, MrT, it's good to see you getting in touch with that sensitive part
of yourself. Y'all must be spending more time at those Indiana Booster
Club Encounter Group Sessions learning about how Bobby Knight teaches his
team of Masters of Fine Arts students about bonsai, brawling and basketball.
BTW, John Thompson is an absolute hunkola, too.

And I love this line...can I steal it some time?

Personally I think the mountains puke because they've been drinking some of the
fine beer that is brewed here.
