the latter!! , but nearer (eye -own - uh), as in the small island
community off Western Scotland (Isle of Mull/OBAN)
They're obviously bigger in the UK than the USA, but have releases
available over there I'm sure, including Videos.
Actually guys if you like Celtic influenced Christian music this is some
of the best I've heard. (wonderfully melodic).
They now also have their own WWW site!
Their latest offering "Journey into the Morn" is excellent...78 minutes
long and tells the story of Christianity reaching Ireland.

| Yep I can vouch for them too! I saw them live before hearing any of their
stuff and was blown away by their sound - and they've managed to capture it on
their latest album Journey Into The Morn (definately one to be turned up loud
late at night!). I particularly love their rendition of "When I Survey".
Tim, I heard their Oxford concert last month was cancelled - do you know if
that's true and why?

| Hello Chris,
Yes, the Oxford concert was postponed due to a band member's family
bereavement.........I believe they are trying to re-schedule for June
3rd.
I will try and keep you posted!

| Thanks Tim. Unfortunately that clashes with the Champion Of The World event
at Wembley Stadium which we were planning to go to.
Oh well, I'll just have to catch them next time round.

| According to the latest update which I received yesterday, the following
artists have been confirmed; Noel Richards, Delirious?, Matt Redman, The Wades
and Sue Rinaldi - plus special guests including Graham Kendrick.
Apparently 30,000 tickets have been sold, which is still a little way off the
70,000 capacity crowd which is hoped for. However, the atmosphere last year at
Wembley Arena was pretty incredible - so it should be even better this year in
the Stadium!

| Hi Chris,
My two oldest kids went to see Delirious! in concert in Swindon last
Saturday evening....they were really excited and thought they were
great!

130.19 | Delirious?! | FORTY2::FOOTE | | Fri Apr 25 1997 07:09 | 18 |
| Yes, I've seen Delirious? a few times too. They've become very popular now,
especially with the younger people - so much so, that when we saw them in
Reading a couple of months ago we suddenly felt very old (quite sad seeing
we're only in our early to mid-twenties!).
Their music is a bit like the early-U2 sound. They nearly made it into the
national Top 40 with their first single "White Ribbon Day" - it reached 41!
You might want to take your kids down to Littlehampton on the 13th July, as
that's when Delirious take their usual monthly indoor worship service (Cutting
Edge) outside to the beach! We went last year and had a great time - there
was easily over 4,000 people there, and it's free!
Anyway, to go back on topic for a second(!), according to the latest copy of
Premier, Iona are playing in Oxford on the 3rd June - has the date changed
again?!

130.22 | Deeper | FORTY2::FOOTE | | Fri May 09 1997 05:57 | 13 |
| Thanks for finding out Tim. Looks like I'll have to miss them this time round,
because of the Wembley concert.
Iona's new video was on last Sunday's Alpha Zone (10am, Channel 5), along with
a host of other Christian-Celtic groups. Have you got their new live album (I
think it's called "Treasures") yet? Premiere seemed to rate it very highly.
[Going slightly off-topic again!] Delirious' new single "Deeper" was released
in the UK on Monday, and apparently it's at number 16 in the mid-week UK
singles chart! Looks like they might make it into the Top 40 on Sunday...

| Hi Tim,
> In at No.20 in the charts yesterday.....so my daughter informed me!
Yep - we were all amazed when we heard the news yesterday. They were introduced
on the charts on Radio 1 as "...maybe the best kept secret in pop music until
today...". So maybe they'll be on TOTP this week!
> What other Christian Celtic bands do you know about... (is one of them

I can't remember the names of the groups on The Alpha Zone. Hopefully I've
still got it on video - I'll check tonight.
