| I finally found a use for the DEC employee discount at CompUSA.
I've been lusting for a pair of Cambridge Sound Works MicroWorks speakers for
months, but I haven't been willing to fork over the $350 for them. (If I'd only
heard the SoundWorks speakers, I'd happily have bought them for $220, but the
MicroWorks sounded so much better than I had to have them.) So I've been
dropping into CSW regularly, hoping the MicroWorks would go on sale, and
promising myself I'd get them when they went below $300.
Well, today the salesman at CSW told me I was wasting my time -- that they
weren't ever going to go on sale, because they market them through CompUsa, too,
and part of the marketing agreement was that the manufacturer wouldn't undercut
the retailer.
So, it was off to CompUSA (a block away), where I found out that with the DEC
employee discount, the MicroWorks speakers were $280.
I walked out of the store with them.

p.s. CompUSA also has the SoundWorks speakers. I don't know what their DEC
discount price is on them, but it's probably under $200.
