I had a ferret two years ago "Nana" and she was the best thing in the
world. Ferrets have the best personality of all animals..they are so
curious its pathetic but funny..they will empty a leather pocketbook in
seconds and can go through the smallest of holes that you may not think
they can because they have no back bones..they are quick, curious,
precious and most of all No! they do not fight or eat up other animals.
As a matter of fact, they get a long great with dogs and cats alike.
We had a cat and a dog and ferret that ran the house and they were all
best friends...when she got out of the house the police would bring her
back from running up the street with a dog...until she did not come
back one day and thats when we lost Nana but she will never be
forgotten. If you have small children, keep your ferret in a cage when
no supervision is there, because they hide in the most ridiculous
places but they are worth being legal and the price you pay for them.
They are very enjoyable!!

Hi, Sorry to hear about Nana. I think "losing" my Mandy that way is one
of the biggest nightmares for me. We have dogs and a cat and they like
to hang out on the porch during the day, and i'm always paranoid that
she'll get out some how and whind up on the roof (we live on a 3rd
floor). You can't always hear her bell, so you can imagine. I don't
know what i'd do without my little girly. Hope you have better luck
next time.

When folks decide to own ferrets they need to be aware of the amount of
care and precautions that must be taken to ensure their safety. If
your ferret is getting loose on a regular basis, you are not taking
proper care of the animal. This goes for dogs, cats, etc. Accidents
can happen, and they are tragic when they do. But for an animal to get
out repeatedly and to rely on someone to return it is sheer neglect
on the part of the owner. They have no natural means of self
protection against the outdoors and it's preditors. They rely solely
on their owners for proper care and to ensure their safety.
I've witnessed more cases of abuse, neglect, and just absolute
ignorance when it comes to ferret owners, and it makes me sick.
