1511.0. "What cables to use?" by WOTVAX::HILTON (Save Water, drink beer) Wed Apr 02 1997 08:54
Hi,
I have a problem trying to trial PCM at BT in the UK.
In order for the trial to be succesful, and BT to then purchase the
product, with associated AlphaServer hardware, they had to connect PCM
to various UNIX consoles.
They succeeded with the IBM boxes, but are stuck with others, and have
tried a variety of cables.
Do we know what cables and/or pinouts are used on the various 3rd
party UNIX boxes? BT don't seem to know, and ask if we have done this
before, and if we have what cables did we use, hence chicken and egg!
Is there any reference info on how to do this?
The systems in question are:
Sequent SE40
Sequent SE60
Sequent S5000
HP 9000/822
HP 715
HP S9000/891 T5DD
Sparc Station IPX
Sparc Station 20
Thanks,
Greg

25 pin or 9 pin or what?
Regs,
