1507.0. "PCM V1.6 and @40 nodes, What params to modify." by SALEM::HARRIS_M () Mon Mar 31 1997 11:54

    Hi,

I've got some questions on an Alpha Server400 PCM engine that I'm
trying to configure. The Alpha is a model 400 with an ev4/233
    processor, 288MB of memory, 3 external rz29's and a single RZ28 for
the system disk. I'm running V6.2-1h3 OVMS. I'm running V1.6 of PCM
with eco4016. I've also got Some other polycenter tools, capacity
planner, system watchdog consolidator, performance advisor and data
    collector installed. Here's my questions.

I've got @ 40 nodes under PCM control. When I get to about the 18 node
(trying to connect to it to open a PCM window on the device) the
machine becomes very sluggish, takes a good five minutes for PCM to
bring the 18th nodes session up. What is the maximum number of PCM
Icons that I can bring up at once? From the notes about the parameters
to bump up as you bring more nodes online, it seems that they only talk
about 3 of them.. PGFLquo, bytlm, and prclm. But as I bump these
    numbers up PRCLM=85, BYTLM=400000, PGFLQUO=300000 things just don't
seem to help, plus I'm not sure what other system problems I may be
causing when I do bump these system parameters. Is there some type of
formula that one can use to calculate approximately the number of
    windows versus parameters to bump.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    			Thanks,

      			Matt

You'll get about 25 as you run out of event flags at that point. You
can't tune local events flgas. There is a fixed number. Now, I would
suspect that maybe you should check the BALSETCNT parameter. It's
possible that yiur swapping for balanace set slots. Get the system
in the sluggish state at then do a SHOW MEM/SLOT.
