Hi, I would like to know is there any ways to add DEC7000 icons to VCS? One of my customer still running VCS V1.4 and have no intention to upgrade yet. On VCS, there are no DEC7000 icons, so is there any ways to add it? I know that on PCM there are DEC_7000.XBM file, can we convert it and put it under VCS. If yes, how? Thanks for your help in advance. Kenneth Leung

Hi Kenneth, This is an extract from a STARS Article titled: "Are VCS Scan Files And/Or Icons Available For New Processors?" . . . QUESTION: Are VCS scan files and/or Icons available for the newer model machines (e.g. 7000's, 10000's, AXP's, etc.)? ANSWER: No, you must create your own. CREATING ICONS: In [SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.VCS.ICONS] there are a number of .DDIF files that can be used as the basis for new icons. Use the DECWINDOWS PAINT application to view the example icons. The VCS CONVERT/ICON command is used to create customized icons. | |||||

Actually, you can get better than that. The PCM files are in XBM format, the VCS icons are in DDIF format. So, you can open the PCM .XBM file, and then save it as a DDIF file in the VCS$ICONS directory, then recompile the icons file (Can't remember how to do that) Shaun |
