My PCM engine is also a 4000-60 and it works fine. It may be that you have another application running that has allocated thos colormap entries for exclusive use. One other possbility is that the file SYS$MANAGER:DECW$RGB.DAT has been mucked with. Regs, Dan

Hi Dan thanks for your reply I have checked SYS$MANAGER:DECW$RGB.DAT it has entries for all this colors. Window Applications runing on this Workstation: Session Manager and PCM. What kind of praphic card do you have on your 4000-60 ? regards Peter
1442.3 | PCM does NOT work with 4 Plane graphic card | GENIE::TANNER | Fri Dec 13 1996 04:27 | 10
Problem found PCM seems NOT to work with 4 Plane (16 color) graphic card. SPD should be more specific in this area! If I start the C3 Display from a Workstation with a 8 Plane (256 color) praphic card it works fine except for the three X Toolkit warnings they still exist....any Idea about this warnings ? regards Peter

Hmmm. I have the standard LCG graphics card in mine and I've never had a problem. Regs, Dan

Yeah, but I've seen those 4-planers. Where you probably have a "full" card, Dan, Peter probably has a lot of unfilled SMD solder pads. I was under the impression that those 4-plane cards were discontinued loooong ago. Both cards, if memory serves, have the same funky type RGB connectors, so it can be really hard to tell 'em apart. Ah, so many options, so little time... bob
1442.6 | 4 or 8 Plane thats the question | GENIE::TANNER | Mon Dec 16 1996 02:28 | 13
Thanks all I belive only the Hardware gives the answer....if you do a sho config in the console >>> mode you can see if you have a 4 or 8 Plane graphic card installed. The problem seems to be in the SPD wich is not precise in this area, it tells you need "a color monitor for the graphic display to work" but it should mention that you need at least a 8 Plane graphic card. The customer has now ordered a 8 Plane card. regards Peter |
