1430.0. "PCM V1.6-309, ACCVIO PC=00055088" by WOTVAX::WATSONR (Lambs... so cute... but so tasty !) Mon Nov 25 1996 02:29
Hi,
I've just started to get the following accvio when starting the console
manager:
Console Controller Daemon Version V1.6-309
%SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=01,
virtual address=44202C4C, PC=00055088, PSL=03C00000
The circumstances are as follows:
I have added a new action, paging. Filters for this action are invoked for
'critical' events, and it would seem that these filters are triggered during
PCM startup. The action is a DCL command file that uses kermit to call a
paging bureau. The command file checks a logical - "console$pager_disabled",
and if set, does nothing (exits immediately). If I define this logical, PCM
starts up OK. If not, the primary controller "Console Ctrl 01" crashes with
the accvio.
Obviously, the finger of suspicion points squarely at the paging action, and
I suspect possibly a quota issue. Any pointers which might help would be gladly
received, but if not, I'll post any findings I have.

1430.1 | | CSC32::BUTTERWORTH | Gun Control is a steady hand. | Mon Nov 25 1996 14:02 | 15 |
| Hmmmm. This is quite interesting considering that the line controller
daemons don't have a thing to do with starting or managing an action
routine. That is the ENS Daemons job!
I would go ahead and log an IPMT. We are also going to need a process
dump. You'll need to comment out the line in the CONSOLE$STARTUP that
INSTAL's the CONSOLE$DAEMON.EXE. You can then restart PCM via
@SYS$STARTUP:CONSOLE$STARTUP RESTART
When it crashes it'll produce a dump.

| Hi Dan !
Me again. I keep popping up in Ross's notes, don't I ? I'll be raising the IPMT
as soon as we've got a process dump for you to look at.
Thanks and regards,

1430.3 | That's funny... it didn't do that before ! | WOTVAX::WATSONR | Lambs... so cute... but so tasty ! | Fri Nov 29 1996 07:22 | 9 |

Er... I don't know quite how to put this but... er... wouldn't you just know it
but I can't, now, reproduce this. I'm trying to get some time to keep
restarting PCM, but I don't want to keep taking the system from the sysmgrs
involved.
If I can't reproduce this soon, I'll let you know.
