1427.0. "C3 display problem using eXcursion : badname & badfont" by BACHUS::BANKEN () Wed Nov 20 1996 08:14

Hello,

No group icons are displayed, no problem with system icons

In the message log of excursion we find the following messages :

Error reply sent to client #1, request=Lookupcolor, error = Badname
Failed to find color in database name : 'Window Topshadow'
Failed to find color in database name : 'Window Background'
Failed to find color in database name : 'Window Bottomshadow'
Error reply sent to client #1, request = QueryFont, Error = Badfont
 .....

Do I have to add those 'color' in the rgb.txt and if yes
what are the corresponding values ?

The next question is why do I have to do this, I made some
tests here with remote and local window manager and everything
 is working properly.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alain,

I find that I get the same type of errors on my WNT 4.0 system
(AlphaStation 200) that you are getting and always have. I've never
run into any display issues under eXcursion so I've just ignored them.
For a more "formal" response, you may want to post your log errors in
the "NOTED::EXCURSION" Notes Conf. and if you do - post any REPLY(s) back
here so that anyone who follows on will share in what you find.

Thanks,

Dennis

Here is the reply I got from the note I put in the eXcursion
conference :

In order to shut off those messages, you'll have to add the values to
rgb.txt. See SYS$MANAGER:DECW$RGB.DAT for the values.

Hello,

I made a test on a Multia running Windows NT 4.0 and eXcursion 2.1-309.
C3 interface worked and is displayed as expected.
The Multia has a ZLXp-E graphic card.

On a PC (386 25Mhz) running Windows95 and eXcursion 2.1-309 with a
standard VGA 640x480 there is a little problem with group icons.
Group icons appear without drawing in it, just blank squares.
The functionnality is unchanged.

Has someone made installations/settings of this kind where the group
icons were displayed correctly ?
I suspect some PC graphic card limitation.
Is there somewhere a description or hw requirements for this kind of
configuration ?

I will post this in the excursion conference as well.

Thanks in advance.

Alain.
