1388.0. "'Bad config file' but verifies ok" by WOTVAX::WATSONR (Lambs... so cute... but so tasty !) Thu Sep 19 1996 08:40
Hi,
I just came across an odd bug in the PCM edit/reconfigure cycle.
I was adding, via the windows editor, a new action and a new filter. The
command file for the action was not in the console$actions path, and I received
a verification error when I tried to exit. I think I then exited the editor
anyway, and created the action command file. I then went back into the editor
and checked the names and tried a verify. All seemed ok, so I exited and asked
for a reconfigure.
I then received a PCM event, citing a 'bad config file' and the reconfigure
(done from DCL) hung. No cpu usage and it didn't come back. I ^c'ed it.
I then have (via both interfaces) the following situation...
$ cons edit/inter=char
POLYCENTER Console Manager
Character Cell Editor Version V1.6-302
Copyright (c) 1995 Digital Equipment Corporation. All Rights Reserved
Database contains 1 verification errors
PCM Edit> ver
Verified successfully
PCM Edit> Exit
$ cons edit/inter=char
POLYCENTER Console Manager
Character Cell Editor Version V1.6-302
Copyright (c) 1995 Digital Equipment Corporation. All Rights Reserved

PCM Edit> Exit

I've just reverted to an old CONSOLE_CFG.DAT file and will start again.
Most odd.
