1353.0. "Which DECservers work with PCM?" by LOCH::SOJDA () Thu Aug 08 1996 11:44

    I have a simple question.

A customer is using PCM V1.7 to manage a group of systems connected via
Xyplex terminal servers. For some reason this is creating problems
with certain HP-UX and SUN workstations. I don't know the details but
believe it is related to the Xyplex.

Anyway, they want to replace the offending Xyplex with a Digital
terminal server and want to know what model DECservers will work with
    PCM and UNIX workstations.

I guess this boils down to the question of what DECservers are or are
    not supported by PCM.

    Thanks in advance.

    Larry,
I recommend ay of the following depending on the number of ports
    the customer needs.

    The DS700 - 16 ports
    The DS900M - 32 ports (I think)
    The DS90TL - 8 ports.

All of these servers are fully supported by PCM and are maintained by
    the terminal server engr. group.

    Regards,
       Dan

Just make sure you have the latest revision of NAS (Not Network Application Services,
but the Terminal Server stuff) as there are problems with DS700 and DS900 Terminal
Servers and consoles with the shipped versions. You can get the latest images
internally off the net, or from the CSC.

no it isn't. That NAS is the Network Application Services - the wrong one.

Apparently, they wont distribute what we need as it doesn't require a PAK!

I've been through this!

    PAK!

Huh? Then why did they put the various DECServer software out there?
I just checked the latest CONDIST and I found all the support
DEcserver software. I didn't find the NAS in question as you already
    stated.
