1343.1 | still in IPMT | COMICS::HAWLEYI | 668 - the neighbour of the beast! | Mon Jul 22 1996 07:16 | 9 |
|
Miguel,
This is a problem on as far as I can see ALL unix based PCM systems.
PCM does not seem to be deassigning its shared memory.
I have IPMTd it and am awaiting resolution. Best fix so far seems to be to
remove the shared memory sections manually with: ipcrm -m

1343.6 | got it, but ... | SIERA::"[email protected]" | Miguel Mena | Thu Jul 25 1996 04:34 | 19 |
| Hi,
I fetched the patch and tested it; so far it looks good.
Just one little problem - when console_eventlist gets
executed, I see this warnings ...
POLYCENTER Console Manager
Eventlist Version V1.6-305
Copyright (c) 1995 Digital Equipment Corporation. All Rights Reserved
X Toolkit Warning: Urm__FetchLiteral: Cannot find literal 'k_reconnect_msg_text' - MrmNOT_FOUND
X Toolkit Warning: Urm__FetchLiteral: Cannot find literal 'k_reconnect_name_text' - MrmNOT_FOUND
X Toolkit Warning: Urm__FetchLiteral: Cannot find literal 'k_reconnect_context_text' - MrmNOT_FOUND
Seems, that I need new "console_eventlist*.uid" files.

Miguel

Miguel,
Yep, I get this too.Doesn't stop the eventlist being started but its a little
annoying. I swear my eventlist keeps disappearing occasionally too, but I might
be imagining things!
so far, all tests have been positive and I havent seen a reoccurance of the
shared memory problems.

1343.9 | UID files pointer | ALEXWS::IGOR | Igor Skapinker, NSI | Tue Jul 30 1996 15:55 | 13 |
| Hello,
There were changes in the UID files that was not included in this
patch. They will be included in the next patch and in the next ECO kit.
For now, you can copy console_eventlist_en_GB.uid and
console_eventlist_en_US.uid files from the node ALEXWS (51.397) from the
directory DISK$PUBLIC:[PCM.UNIX_305] and put them in the directory
/usr/opt/DCR160/lib/X11/uid/OSF.
Regards,
PCM Engineering.

1343.15 | Ooops, not yet :( | SIERA::"[email protected]" | Miguel Mena | Wed Aug 14 1996 03:18 | 23 |
| I'm sorry guys :(
but after testing Revison 305 for a while I noticed another (new) problem:
I was connected to a console, worked there for a while and then
disconnected from that console.
Then I wanted to reconnect to the same console ... but I cannot connect.
It stops in Console Monitor Window with a message ...
"Console Manager is not running".
I checked, if all processes are running: there is one consoled, one console_ensd
and one consoled Child ... plus c3, eventlist etc ...
Then I tried with another console, but it is the same. I have to restart
console manager, then I'm able to connect to console again.
Please help, thanks a lot !
Miguel

1343.16 | nightmare | COMICS::HAWLEYI | 668 - the neighbour of the beast! | Tue Aug 27 1996 05:55 | 9 |

Sounds like a similar situation to the one I get in 1356.0
I put on Patch305 and one I try to connect it says its not running, if you then
do a console -d its all zeros.
Go back to ECO 2 and it works, except, still the shared memory problems.
I'm pushing this one back to engineering.
Ian.
