1304.0. "LAT Devices Only Short Time" by ZUR01::SCHILLING () Tue May 21 1996 05:52

Hi all,
A customer installed V1.6 with ECO2 on a DEC 3000 -M300LX (VMS V6.2).

But the LAT Devices disappear alway after a short time.
The processes terminate with 0001C0F4 (%RMS-F-RER, file read error).

Whre have I to look further? Any hint is very appreciated

Paul

The customer went back to V1.5 and this works well.
But the question remains: Why does this not work with V1.6?

    Paul.

     We have *lost* of people running 6.2 using LAT so this is more than
    likely an environmental problem. We don't use RMS to read from the
    terminal ports so this error is the result of reading some file. My
    first inclination is to question the integrity of the installation. I
    would reinstal V1.6 and insure that the installation was successful.
    If the problem still persists then do

    $ DEFINE/SYSTEM CONSOLE$DEBUG TERMINAL
    $ DEFINE/SYSTEM CONSOLE$DEBUG_LEVEL FFFFFFFF

    and post all of the daemon output logs.

    Regs,
      Dan

    Hmmmm.... it seems that you LAT connections are not being established
    in a timely manner. I have seen this at sites that have a PCM engine
    with multiple ethernet controllers. WHat we want to do is increase the
    console open timeout. Using the caharcter-cel config editor, enter the
    SET HIDDEN command. When prompted for the "Console open timeout"
    value, enter 30. This will allow a 30 second timeout.

for the rest of Net Traffic.

The customer isn't there this week; i will post the result next week.

Thanks
