1295.0. "PCM through eXcursion ...?" by BBIV02::XFMV01::MANISHB () Mon May 13 1996 01:54

Hi,

I'm in the process of suggesting PCM to one of our prospective customers for
managing his systems as well as the HSZ40s. In this regards, I had a few
questions ...

I generally quote for PCM along with a Workstation so that it will be the
one which manages the whole setup, but due to budget constraints I would like
to quote for PCM on the Server itself and would like to use it from a PC
connected to it through eXcursion which is already in place. In such a case,
can I have the PCM failover to the Standby system in a DECsafe configuration.

In short, can I have PCM running through eXcursion on a PC ...? and can I have
the PCM fail over to the other server in a DECsafe configuration ... ? If yes,
is there some script which is readily available for inclusion in the DECsafe
scripts for failing over...?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Regards,
.../Manish Bapat - DTS India

    Manish,
We do not have "failover" turned on at this point. This is planned
for the next major release. You can certainly try to "roll your own".

OH YES, copy if, you don't yet have it, copy from one of your
Pathworks-servers SYS$SYSTEM:PCX$SERVER.COM and make an object
(PCX$SERVER) to point it. Then you can run your C3 and/or EDIT
windows's with EXCURSION by putting $CONSOLE C3 in the application command
field.
