1292.0. "security features ??" by HGOVC::JAMBU () Tue May 07 1996 12:12

    Hi,

What are the security features under console manager ??

Is it possible to restrict to consoles from one Server only... Meaning
only a server or a group of servers can access the system consoles. So
even if other systems are running PCM, they should be prevented from
    accessing the console managers...

    Something like secure hosts...

Are there any other security features to prevent accidental access to
    the console manager ??

    Regards
    jambu

You are under the impression that PCM is Client/Server when, in fact,
it is not. In order for a user to access a console managed by any PCM
engine, that user has to be able to login to the PCM engine with a
valid username/password. The only exception to this rule would be if
a system manager has set things up such that the PCM GUI is sent to a
    remote users X-Display.

PCM also has it's own internal security in that if a user wishes to
access a console then that user must have been granted access to that
systems console via their user record in the PCM configuration
database. I suggest that you read the section look in chapter 3
of the PCM users guide specifically sections 3.4.6 and 3.5.7.

    Regards,
       Dan
