| Marielle,
This is not a known problem. Assuming you are running at 9600 baud I
would suggest trying a lower baud-rate first. I had problems int he
past with some of the 6000 series (even with VCS) where the console
would hang. Analysis showed we had lost an interrupt on OPA0 and
lowering the baud rate fixed the problem. As a matter of fact some of
the 6000's had a max recommended/support baud rate and may sites chose
to user a higher speed. The point is we may be seeing something
similar with these HSJ's. Let's try the lower baud rate and see where
it gets us. We'll probably need to escalate this to Storageworks
engineering.
Regs,
Dan

We monitor about 100 HSJ40's and don't experience any problems. About
the only difference from our config to yours, is that we use DECserver
900's, which I believe shouldn't make any difference.

| In the HSJ40 conference Note 1035 talks about the consol port hanging under
some conditions when a DIR command is issued. Perhaps this has
happened in your case.
