I'm not surprised as this is an SMG problem and there were different
fixes for 6.1 and 6.2. You will find that the problem is fixed in 6.1 and
6.2

1272.3 | Any update on V7.0/Monitor/Hangs | SSDEVO::EKHOLM | Greg - party today, tomorrow we die! (Cluster Adjuster) | Thu Oct 31 1996 14:16 | 20 |

Any update on this. We are being forced to move from VCS to
PCM and have several users who "LOVE" the monitor command.
This topic has not been updated lately.
What's happening?

P.S. looking at the problem, We've seen the monitor command hang
after about 6 seconds. We've tried to connect to the PCM system
via set host, and connect using LAT. The problem appears to be
when the process goes from LEF or CUR into HIB state. It never
returns from the HIB state.
Any input would be more than we have had here since APRIL of 1996.

| This problem is not caused by version 7.0 of VMS. This problem was
fixed and kitted into what was to become ECO3 of PCM. Then the product
was sold to CA and ECO3 never got through the Q&A process because it
has not been determined what that process is. Many sites are using the
kit and you may copy it from
ALEXWS::DISK$USER1:[PUBLIC.PCM.ECO3]
Note, that there are problems with V1.6 of PCM when running on V7.0
of OpenVMS. These problems will not be addressed until the next
version of PCM which is planned for Beta test in December. This
version will be a maintenance release and will not include any major
new functionality. However, one of the goals is to support current
operating system versions.

| Then we'll have to analyze and refix the problem on V7.0. In V6.1 and
V6.2 the problem is fixed by ECO 3. As stated in -2, we won't have
a V7.* qualified version until V1.7. You woul dhave to downgrade you
PCM engine to 6.2. I know thats a tall order but it's either do that or
wait until V1.7.

Dan
