1211.0. "PCM 1.6-127 and Notify in LEF state" by 48219::DEGAGE () Mon Feb 26 1996 06:39

	Hi,

One customer has encountered an "old" behaviour , concerning the process
Console Notify which was in LEF state on OpenVMS/VAX 6.1...
It occured just after receiving a lot of events from the 'enabled' systems
( about 50 events at the same time ).
The other processes were OK.
They have got the last version ( 1.6-127).

Unfortunately I do not have got more precise informations ( LOG files or...)

Have any one already encountered this behaviour with the last patched version ??

Thanks for any input.

Marielle,

Just to confirm...

Yes, as I already told you on the phone, we've seen the problem also
on a OpenVMS Alpha system (V6.2).

I'm not sure that this happened after many messages were output, but it's
possible. Also, a CONSOLE RECONFIGURE got hung (I do not know if its was the
cause or the consequence of the NOTIFY hang problem).

Thanks,
Peter.

    I have an idea whats going on but I need a lot more info. Optimally, I
    would like to see the problem reproduced followed by a forced crash on
    the PCM engine. I would like the all of the logfiles in CONSOLE$TMP
    saved as well. If possible, please set CONSOLE$DEBUG to ENS before
    attempting to reproduce the problem. Make sure that the system dumpfile
    is large enough for a full dump as there is no guarentee that an
    abbreviated dump will save all of the various PCM related processes.
    Once done, make all of the files available on the net and I'll take a
    look at it. Time is of the essence as ECO2 release is imminent.

1211.3Customer will try to reproduce...48219::DEGAGEWed Feb 28 1996 04:368
	Thanks a lot Dan.
I have been in touch with the customer this morning and he is OK for giving
us a sysdump and the log files you need.
The problems has occurred two times since friday, one occurence he could not
rely to any specific event, the other one appeared after he has acknowledged
an event ...
See you later.
